Expandable graphite powder is prepared by acidifying, intercalating, washing, and drying natural flake graphite. When heated at high temperatures, it can expand to produce expanded graphite.

Expanded graphite has the characteristics of light weight, large specific surface area, loose and porous, and has good chemical compatibility with paraffin wax. Its three-dimensional porous structure can absorb liquid paraffin and prevent the leakage of liquid phase during the phase change process. At the same time, it has a high thermal conductivity, which can enhance the thermal conductivity of paraffin, thereby increasing the heat storage and release rate of phase change materials.
